Bobtails Nursery, Horley

Bobtails Nursery, part of Horley Infants School, were awarded a Surestart Grant to improve the learning environment for their pupils and promote the free flow of play. They wanted to make the most of their unique outdoor space ensuring that it could be used safely, come rain or shine.

Awning in Horley

After consulting several firms the nursery selected Regnum Blinds’ proposed solution to install an awning on a bespoke designed framework which sat independent of the modular timber building but without interfering or obstructing with the childrens play area.

The hardware, including posts were polyester powdercoated to a custom RAL colour to complement the buildings façade, whilst a multi-striped blue/purple colour fabric was used to stay in keeping with the school's identity.

The fabric features a unique TEXgard easy clean coating; an invisible protective shield around each fibre of the fabric, imitates a lotus leaf, simply shrugging off dust, dirt and debris leaving beads of rain water to simply wash it off. This ensures the fabric keeps a clean visual appearance.

An integral Somfy motor extends or retracts the awning at a touch of a button on the handheld transmitter. For safety the awning is fitted with a discreet ‘vibration’ sensor mounted to the front profile which measures the 3-dimensional movement of the awning, automatically retracting it should strong winds become threatening.

A full cassette casing on the awning protects the fabric, components and operating mechanism from all types of inclement weather when retracted, making the entire solution maintenance free, just needing to be hosed down once or twice a year to keep looking like new.

The entire solution is certified to stringent European safety standards according to EN 13561 and came with a fully comprehensive five year manufacturer backed warranty for complete peace of mind.

We were awarded by WSCC (West Sussex County Council) for the the first phase of the project in 2010 with the install of vertical blinds to the Children and Family Centre attached to the primary school.

School Blinds in Crawley

WSCC and the school were extremely pleased with our work that this led onto phase two in 2013 with the install of commercial quality roller blinds to windows. Then in 2014 to phase 3 which required a larger model to be used - roller blind R20C, a detachable crank operated roller blind system.

Since being awarded this project we have to date installed in excess of 200 blinds.
